RSSC Voyager world Cruise 2005 Paul Brian Suite 1033 Day One ...

The Big Day is finally here. After months of planning and preparation, my around the world voyage is finally setting sail. Yesterday, I departed St. Petersburg with my 10 suitcases, mom and dad in their van. Ellen and Alexandra followed us in Ellen’s car. We spent the night at the Marriott Beach Place resort on Ft. Lauderdale Beach. I arrived at Pier 29 at Port Everglades around 11:00 AM. The embarkation process was easy with only a dozen or so people waiting to board. While I was waiting, I was introduced to a fellow World Cruiser named Betty, This is Betty’s 16th world cruise. Around noon, we were allowed on board. I was greeted with a glass of Champaign and sat in the lobby with Betty waiting for our Staterooms to be readied. Betty introduced me to all of the Radisson staff that welcomed her back. This of course included the CEO of the company and the COO. I had lunch by the pool and chatted at the pool bar until 2:00 PM when it was time to check out my cabin. All seven suitcases arrived and were already inside waiting for me to unpack them. I spent the rest of the afternoon unpacking and setting up my suite for my four month residency. I met up with Colleen and Ted from LCT and we had dinner together in the Compass Rose. I should stop and say that everything up to this point has been above expectations. Dinner was superb. I retired for the night early as it had been a long day and the Champaign, wine and vodka had taken their toll. After breakfast in my stateroom, I took the conch train from the pier to old town Key West. I took a stroll up Duval. Not much changes in Key West. T-Shirt shops and souvenir stands were displaying the typical Key West flavor. I stopped in at the Walgreen’s to buy 20 more hangers. I could finally hang up the rest of my shirts. I spend the afternoon on board touring the ship and getting acquainted with each deck, Colleen and her husband and I ate at Signatures restaurant at 7:30 PM.
