The skinny: Journey to the jungles of India to meet Mowgli and his pals in The Jungle Book Kids, a special adaptation of the Disney movie meant for young actors. In Act 2 travel to a farmyard and beyond in Honk Jr, a musical adaptation of the touching story of the Ugly Duckling. This Double Feature is bound to leave your toes tapping and your hearts glowing, after watching the students bring these meaningful stories to life. The Coquitlam Firefit Championships is a firefighting competition that puts firefighters through an obstacle course that simulates tasks found in emergency situations. This year, the Coquitlam Firefit Championships will be hosting a BBQ and Beer Garden, 50/50 draws, kids area, and an auto extrication demonstration (jaws of life!). It’s fun for the whole family! The skinny: Join in this free all-ages fun run along the May Day Parade route in celebration of Move for Health Day! The one-mile route takes you through the streets of downtown Port Coquitlam, which will be cleared of traffic in preparation for the Rotary May Day Parade at 11 am. The run starts and ends at the crosswalk at Shaughnessy Street and Wilson Avenue. The skinny: This is the second largest parade in the Lower Mainland. There will be over 90 parade entries and it all begins at 11:00 am in downtown Port Coquitlam. Come out and see the May Day Royal Party and community floats, marching bands, motorcycles, antique vehicles and much, much more.
